Hennepin Healthcare issued the following announcement on July 25.
As part of the Medtronic Foundation's immediate response to racial injustice, our Hennepin Healthcare Foundation was selected as a community partner to support people impacted by the civil unrest following George Floyd’s killing. This gift will allow Community Health Workers to deliver immediate COVID-19 support, connection to resources, and care coordination to 1,300 high-risk patients from diverse cultural communities. Support will also provide additional training to 25 Hennepin Healthcare Community Health Workers and another 25 located in different community settings.
To help bring about long overdue social justice and equity, we are committing $16 million to health and education partnerships. From advancing STEM education to supporting local healthcare teams, our nonprofit partners are deeply immersed in the fight for social change and share our commitment to ending disparities for Black students and families.
