Learn how to design and create an Alebrije, sculpting Alebrijes using paper mache and tape in this 2-day workshop. This is a 2-day project, of 2 hours each. Designed for children 8 years old and older, children under 8 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Alebrijes are imaginary beings made up of physiognomic elements from different animals, a combination of various animals, not only fantastic
but also real that make up an amazing being. Full of bright colors, sometimes made of cardboard and other times in wood, combining figures of
different animals in one body, these are the alebrijes, crafts that are made by hand and that come from the dreams of Pedro Linares López
Length of class: 2 classes of 2 hours each.
Registration required: please register each child that will be attending; accompanying grownups need not register.
About the artistBrief Bio:
Gustavo Boada is a Peruvian Maskmaker and Puppeter, Visual Artist,Sculptor and Theater Artist. He is an experienced teaching artist in USA (1999) for more 20 years, teaching in Puppetry in Practice at Brooklyn College, Taller Puertorriqueño Inc. Philadelphia and In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater, Minneapolis.He is working extensivly as Teaching Artist with ArtStart Inc.,Minneapolis Institute of Art (MiA).
