Urban Foraging: Identifying Plants

In this beginner foraging session with Lachelle Cunningham (Chef of Chelle’s Kitchen, Founder of Breaking Bread Café and Healthy Roots Institute) and Eva Garrett (Certified Master Herbalist), we will go no further than right in our own backyards and neighborhoods to identify what wild herbs can be used for food and medicine. Learn about foraging, what it is and the history of this ancient way of sourcing food and medicine. Discover how to identify different types of plants in the area. A portion of this program will include walking outside to a nearby park to identify plants. Please wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothes for the weather. Each participant will receive a foraging kit at the end of the program to start your urban foraging adventure. Collaborator: The Elixir Kitchen. Funded by Friends of the Hennepin County Library.

Suitable for: Adults

Type: Home and Garden

Language: English

Additional Details: Meet at Northeast Library first and walk together to Jackson Square Park behind the library for the second part of the program.
