The Native Youth Arts Collective (NYAC) is a group of young Indigenous creators and culture bearers sharing their stories through their own lens within the Little Earth and East Phillips communities. NYAC holds space for accountability, healing, and dialogue around important topics and social movements within Indian Country – such as reclaiming language, kinship, foodways, sovereignty, and missing and murdered Indigenous women.
The “We Are Still Here” exhibit features pieces made by Indigenous creators from Dakota, Anishinaabe, Diné, and Luiseño Nations. They intentionally dismantle harmful narratives by having accurate, honest, and meaningful conversations through their work. NYAC expresses:
- We are an empowered collective and community.
- We are protectors.
- We are reclaiming space.
- We are resilient and WE ARE STILL HERE.
