Hennepin County Library – North Regional will host a renovation celebration in Minneapolis on Saturday, June 4, from noon to 4pm. Residents are invited to reconnect with staff and explore the renovated North Regional Library.
The open house event will begin with a performance by Unlimited Next Level Drill and Dance Team, followed by a live community art collaboration by Minneapolis muralist Bayou, tours of the updated spaces, and other activities throughout the library.
“North Regional Library has been an important community hub for decades,” said Interim Library Director and Assistant County Administrator for Operations Daniel Rogan. “The renovations ensure the library will continue to be a comfortable, welcoming space for many years to come.”
The $7 million capital project began in March 2020 and was completed in January 2021. The library reopened to the public in February 2021. Celebration planning was delayed until 2022 due to the impact of COVID-19.
The renovated building offers enhanced access to technology, redesigned areas for children and young people, and updates to collaborative meeting spaces for patrons of all ages. Acoustics have been improved throughout the building, along with behind-the-scenes infrastructure and system upgrades.
