Mankato Minnesota: Submit Designs to Mankato's Arbor Day Poster Contest

Mankato Minnesota issued the following announcement on March 24.

Mankato-The City of Mankato invites youth in grades Kindergarten through Fifth to participate in the Mankato Arbor Day Poster Contest. This year’s theme is “Trees Bring us Together.” A first, second and third place winner will be selected from three grade categories:

  • Kindergarten and First
  • Second and Third
  • Fourth and Fifth
The first-place winners will have a tree planted in recognition of their win, and each winner will receive a City of Mankato pack. The top nine winning posters will be shared on the City’s social media pages and website and featured in an upcoming online newsletter.

 Guidelines

  • Be creative and have fun.
  • Contest is open to children in grades Kindergarten through Fifth.
  • Original artworks on 8.5'' x 11'' OR 11'' x 17'' paper.
  • Include theme name in writing on poster.
  • One poster per child may be submitted.
  • Posters can be created using any medium (markers, crayons, paint, etc.)
  • On the back of the poster, include:
    • Artist’s name
    • Grade
    • Parent/guardian contact information (name, email and phone number), or teacher contact information if being submitted as part of a classroom project.
Entries are due by 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 12. To enter, email the entry to communications@mankatomn.gov, or mail or drop off posters:

More than 16,000 trees make up Mankato’s urban forest. Trees cool, fight pollution, conserve energy and benefit wildlife. In addition, trees enhance property values and neighborhood livability.
