CITY OF MINNEAPOLIS: Minneapolis City Offices Closed Friday, Jan. 1

City of Minneapolis issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.

Minneapolis City government offices are closed Friday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. City offices will resume regular business hours Monday, Jan. 4.  The holiday does not affect 911 or Minneapolis police and fire emergency services.

Garbage and recycling – There are no City of Minneapolis garbage and recycling pickups Friday, Jan 1. Friday’s collections are delayed a day and will take place Saturday, Jan 2. The South Transfer Station closes early at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow, Dec 31, and is closed Friday, Jan. 1. The Solid Waste and Recycling Customer Service Office is also closed Friday. 

Metered parking – The City’s metered parking spaces are not enforced Jan. 1. Other metered parking restrictions in the city may be in effect and subject to enforcement, including Park Board, University of Minnesota and private organizations that operate their own meters. Always read the information posted on the meter to be certain. 

Permits, development services – The Minneapolis Development Review Customer Service Center (the permit office) is closed Friday, Jan. 1. 

311 – Minneapolis 311 is closed Friday, Jan. 1 and resumes its normal weekday 7 a.m.-7 p.m. business hours Jan. 4.  

911 and emergency services – The holiday does not affect 911 or Minneapolis police and fire emergency services.
