The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is encouraging residents to buy and eat nearby over the holidays as the state plans for phase two of COVID-19.

Officials said by buying and consuming regionally, residents can support local eateries and other businesses by ordering takeout and curbside.

Doing business locally is an easy way to support important businesses while having a rich meal at home. This will help companies defeat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The best way to help your local restaurants weather this time is by ordering takeout whenever you can,” said DEED Commissioner Steve Grove in a press release. “They need our support now more than ever.”

Explore Minnesota Director John Edman said supporting Minnesota's hospitality businesses is more important than ever.

“Order takeout from local restaurants, curbside cocktail kits and growlers galore. Give the gift of Minnesota and support local shops statewide," Edman said.
