City of Minneapolis issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.
Officials from the Minneapolis Office of Emergency Management are encouraging you to refresh your winter safety skills now. The City is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, in collaboration with the National Weather Service and other nonprofit agencies, to help Minnesotans know how to prepare for winter to help keep families safe before extreme weather hits.
Winter hazard preparedness topics
Winter storms: ice storms, blizzards, sub-zero temperatures, winter weather watches and warnings, and wind chill.
Outdoor winter safety: safety on ice, snowmobile safety, hypothermia and frostbite.
Winter fire safety: winter and holiday fire safety, alternative heat sources, smoke detectors, cooking safety, candles and decorations.
Indoor winter safety: carbon monoxide, radon, mold and general home care.
Winter driving: auto safety, snowplows, road conditions, using 511, winter driving tips and car survival.
