Lake Harriet Capital employee James Lawrence contributed a total of $1,000 to the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party candidate Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn, according to the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board.

There have been $14,500 total contributions made to political candidates and committees by Lake Harriet Capital employees, 82.8 percent of which have gone to the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party causes and candidates.

Donations made to political groups or candidates must be disclosed under state law for greater transparency in elections. While Congress created the Federal Election Commission to oversee federal elections in 1974, each state is left to regulate its local elections.
