More than 416,000 Minnesotans have filed for unemployment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. | Pixabay
Minnesota has seen a slight decline in the number of unemployment claims filed the week ending June 13, according to The Center Square.
That week, 25,549 Minnesota residents filed new unemployment claims, which is a 2,762 dip from the week before. As of June 18, there were 416,729 unemployed people living in Minnesota.
While the state has seen a decrease, when it comes to the week ending on June 6, Florida saw the greatest with 95,546. Texas saw a decline with 17,001. Georgia was next with 17,001 while Michigan had 11,454.
There are more than 1.5 million who filed a new unemployment claim in the U.S., the week ending June 6. This is 58,000 less than the amount who filed the week before.
Thanks to COVID-19, 45 million total unemployment claims have been filed in recent months.
The national unemployment rate was 14.1% on June 6.
