The Minnesota Tenant Resource Center (TCR) is developing a team of community prevention providers to help gather funds for the Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA) program.
A maximum of $1,500 per household will be available and $2,000 in some extreme cases, for those who need assistance covering rent, utility, and other housing costs and will depend on the needs of the individuals applying.
Online applications will open to the public April 22 at 9 a.m. till noon Monday, April 27 and are offered in Spanish, English, Oromo, Somali, and Hmong. The funds come from the allotted $3 million in the Gap Funds for Housing for renters. They will also be opening the Stable Homes Stable Schools initiative to all Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) elementary schools.
Applicants can also call and leave a message by calling the Tenant Resource Center at 612-302-3129. Call in applicants are expected to hear back from a worker within three days of leaving a message.
Payments will go directly to the utility, rental or housing payees, not to the applicant.
