Minneapolis Public Schools issued the following announcement on Feb. 12.
MPS will be OPEN tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 13, and staff and students should expect frigid temperatures at bus stops in the morning. Wind chills are forecast to reach -29 degrees, which does not meet the MPS closing threshold of -35 wind chill.
We encourage families to take extra precautions to bundle students up to limit their exposure to the wind. We also recommend downloading the Here Comes The Bus app to get updates on your child’s bus location and limit time spent waiting outside. As always, families who choose to keep students home will need to follow their school’s standard attendance procedures.
