Minneapolis Public Schools issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.
Our thoughts are with those impacted by the tragic fire at the Drake Hotel yesterday. MPS staff are working to support students and their families, and we will continue to work with partners to find safe and affordable housing.
There are two ways to support immediate needs:
• The Minneapolis Foundation has set up a fund to accept online donations for those displaced: https://give.onecause.com/drakefire
• MFT 59 is open today, Thursday, December 26th, from 9-5:00 p.m. to collect gift cards for Target, Cub, Aldi, and other places for families. MFT is located at 67 8th Ave NE in Minneapolis. (Please do NOT bring clothing, food, or cash. Thank you.)
