City Of Minneapolis issued the following announcement on Oct. 4.

On Sunday, Oct. 6, thousands of runners will travel city streets in Minneapolis as part of the 38th annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and the Medtronic TC 10 Mile race. Marathon runners will start at 8 a.m. (wheelchair start is at 7:55 a.m.) near U.S. Bank Stadium and run down Sixth Street to Marquette Avenue. Then runners will turn on 12th Street and head to Hennepin. The 26.2-mile course heads south along the scenic parkways that line the Chain of Lakes, Lake Nokomis and then onto Minnehaha Parkway. From there, runners will follow the course east to West River Parkway, cross the Mississippi River at Franklin Avenue, and head into Saint Paul to finish near the State Capitol.

The Medtronic TC 10 Mile run will begin at 6:54 a.m., also near U.S. Bank Stadium at Portland Avenue and South Third Street. Runners will then head north to Second Street south, head east to 13th Avenue South, head north to West River Parkway, then head east to cross the Mississippi River on the Franklin Avenue bridge. Runners then take East River Road into Saint Paul to finish at the Capitol. For course maps, schedules and transportation information that can help spectators and drivers, visit www.tcmevents.org/transportation.

Drivers are encouraged to check the course map and take alternate routes to avoid street closures during the races. While runners are on the courses, no vehicle or pedestrian traffic will be permitted. Runners are expected to maintain a 13:44 minute-per-mile pace, and streets will be reopened a few minutes after the runners have passed by.
